A Day with Silicon Valley Innovators

Our NexTech volunteers contribute to our success in so many ways.  One of our volunteers, Dmitriy Ksendzovsky, brings us outstanding computer science skills, a Silicon Valley experience, and a network of high-profile colleagues in the technology field. He recently introduced us to a couple of this friends, Jim and MJ Marggraff.

STEM super stars Jim and MJ spent a day in Hilo and delivered powerful messages to engineering, robotics and other STEM skilled students, parents, educators, and our NexTech team. Learning was immediate as Jim Marggraff, a highly successful inventor, revealed his process of thinking.  A holder of  40 patents, Jim is prolific – his inventions include LeapPad, Livescribe and Eyefluence (a company that was recently acquired by Google). https://jimmarggraff.com

Jim’s wife, MJ Marggraff, wowed us with her “Gravity Games”, now being tested on the International Space Station.  To combat space travel isolation, Gravity Games delivers a game experience that considers environmental factors in space and the challenges faced by astronauts. You can learn of MJ’s major course correction that changed her life in her book, ”finding the Wow”. https://mjmarggraff.com

It was truly an amazing day. We send a big Mahalo to Jim and MJ Marggraff, Dmitiry Ksendzovsky and the astronomers at East Asian Observatory for this special experience. Here are additional images from their visit.
