NexTech STEM Advance Camp was held on October 2 and 3, 2021. The event was held virtually over Zoom and offered Hawaii Island students the opportunity to learn several valuable skills - website design, coding, and ArcGIS.
Participants shared their proposals for a responsible land-use plan for an abandoned 163-acre golf course property in Volcano.
Teams presented their plans, and ArcGIS story maps to a panel that included Marissa Marman and Emily Davids of Kamehameha Schools. They did a fabulous job demonstrating their knowledge and skill with the ArcGIS application and website coding, along with their creative ideas on how best to develop the property.
Kudos to the NexTech team (Lisa Mason, Gail Takaki, Eric Hagiwara, Jakob Au, Shane Okimoto, and Dale Olive), Heather Kimball, and guests Marissa Harman and Emily Davids for creating this excellent learning opportunity for our camp participants.
