Pitch Day 2024 was FIN-TASTIC!
Mahalo nui for helping us close our FishTank 2024 season. Our in-person Pitch Day event was held at UH Hilo on March 9th, 2024, where five finalist teams presented their Lightning Pitches to a live audience of over 70 participants. Student teams and their families and friends were joined by their team coordinators, STEM professionals/SME and NexTech supporters, and volunteers to hear about their solutions to real and local problems.
Amelia Earhart Girls in Engineering Day
Amelia Earhart Girls in Engineering Day is happening soon. It is open to girls from Hawai‘i Island in grades 4-8.
This annual event is now in its 8th season and is designed to generate curiosity in STEM careers for our girls. Each event has a particular theme and includes activities and talks by guests that are intended to inspire and motivate. This year’s theme is flight.
News - NexTech Hawaii sponors community event exposing keiki to science, math
A Big Island group is working to inspire and build STEM career readiness in Hawaii youth through community education.
NexTech Hawaii is an organization dedicated to connecting keiki across Hawaii Island to fun, high-impact science, technology, engineering and math experiences and mentorship opportunities.
Through the generosity of partnerships and plenty of volunteers, kids can attend extracurricular workshops and competitions designed to inspire real world problem solving.
NexTech in the Community
NexTech spent the afternoon with curious 5th and 6th-grade students at the recent Hilo Union Science Day. We shared information about our STEM programs and upcoming events. Our Prusa 3D printer and Tello drone display garnered much attention and discussion.

Hawai’i Island Youth Win Prizes at Hawaii Island STEM Competition
NexTech Hawai’i held its third annual STEM event – FishTank Design Competition - on March 4. The event, held at UH Hilo’s Sciences and Technology Building, was well attended by families and local business, government, and business leaders.
